What the chain is costing, not just what you can win back
Componentry has been telling you how many watts a clean and re-lube would win back. It hasn't been telling you how many you're losing in the first place, and those are not the same number.
Three things drag on a chain: dirt, dry links, and stretch. A clean and re-lube fixes the first two. Nothing fixes the third — a stretched chain is a worn-out chain, and the only cure is a new one. So the recoverable figure, on its own, quietly left out the part you can't wash off. A chain well past its wear limit could show a modest recoverable number and read as fine.
The band now states both:
LOSS 3 watts · RECOVERABLE 1.3 watts
Loss is the whole penalty against a fresh chain. Recoverable is the part of it you can have back this afternoon with a rag and a bottle of lube. The gap between the two is the stretch — and when that gap starts to open up, that's your chain telling you a clean won't cut it any more.
Both figures are now always there. Previously the band only appeared when there was something to recover, which meant it came and went as you moved between bikes, and a genuinely clean chain looked exactly like a chain the app knew nothing about. A chain that's costing you nothing now says so.
The Components card gets the full width
On a bike's own screen, Components has moved out of the two-up grid and onto a row of its own, running the full width of the screen. Reminders and Service History pair up underneath it.
The reason is the power loss band along its bottom edge. At half width it had to abbreviate to fit; at full width it reads exactly as it does on Home — same words, same order, same figures — so the two screens can't tell you different things about the same chain.
The same two figures on the component list
Open a bike's component list and the chain now carries the same readout under its wear bar, in the same words as both cards.
It's moved down there from the row of small chips beside the component's name. Two labelled figures were never going to fit up there without squeezing the name, and a chip is the wrong shape for a finding this specific. Underneath the wear bar it has room to say the whole thing.
Tapping through to the chain itself gives you the full breakdown as before — where the watts are going, when it was last lubed, how confident the model is — and that screen now states the loss figure too, so all four places agree.
Also in this release
Watt figures with a decimal now read correctly. "1.3 watts" was being written as "1.3 watt", because the number was rounded down to one before the app decided whether to make the word plural.
VoiceOver now reads the power loss figures on the component list. The row announced the component, its type and its wear, but skipped the watts entirely.
The watts on the component list are now translated. That one spot had been left in English regardless of the language the rest of the app was in.
