Your bike's paperwork lives with the bike
The moment you need a receipt is never a good one: a theft claim, a warranty question, a resale listing. From this release the bike page holds it all. Open a bike, press Edit on Gear Information, and you can record when you bought it and what you paid, in whichever currency you paid it. Receipts sit right underneath as files you can open in a new tab or remove, up to ten per bike, PDF or photo, 5 MB each.
Everything you upload is private to your account. Files are checked for what they actually are, not what their name claims, and they go when the bike goes.
Insurance, with a nudge before it renews
A new Insurance card sits under Gear Information. Record the insurer, policy number, start and renewal dates, the premium, any notes, and the policy documents. Choose how far ahead you want warning, from a week to sixty days, and Componentry sets a reminder for that day at nine in the morning, repeating every year.
The card is the record: it always shows the renewal date, turning amber inside your warning window and red once the date has passed. The reminder is the nudge, and completing it moves the renewal on a year. On the bike list, a bike only mentions its insurance when the renewal is within sixty days or has lapsed, so the line means something when you see it.
Receipts and invoices on every service
Service logs and maintenance checks both gain a Receipts & invoices card. Drop the workshop's invoice or a photo of the parts receipt onto it and it stays with that service. Files that are too large, the wrong type, or over the limit are refused by name, with the reason, before anything is sent.
How far has this bike really gone
Every bike now shows a Ridden figure: every ride stored in Componentry, plus the distance the bike had done before you started tracking it here. For a bike imported from Strava, that baseline is the Strava odometer at the time of import minus the rides Componentry went on to import, so nothing is counted twice. You can edit either figure, and the page shows the arithmetic under a small disclosure so the number never has to be taken on trust.
This total is now the one odometer used everywhere, including distance-based reminders set on a whole bike rather than a component, which previously read a figure that could silently reset.
Also in this release
- The bike page and the bike settings page finally have an Edit button for the bike's own details. Until now the only way to edit a bike was the pencil on the list card.
- The wear bar on the bike list card takes the same amber and red steps as the bike page, so a worn bike reads the same on both.
- The purchase price, premium, and every distance render in your own units and number format, with a currency default taken from your locale.
- A handful of untranslated strings on the bike page now follow your language.
