Name your sensors, copy a sensor's serial number from a ride, and keep serial numbers from Wahoo recordings
Name your sensors
Add a sensor yourself. The Sensors page has a new Add Sensor button. Give the sensor a name, pick its type (virtual, electronic shifting, power meter, speed sensor, heart rate monitor or trainer) and enter its serial number. A sensor's type is fixed once it's added.
Your names show on your rides. When a sensor on a ride matches one of yours, its battery badge on Home and on the activity shows your name for it instead of "UNKNOWN" or whatever the device reports.
Low-battery alerts use your names too. When a sensor's battery runs low, the notification names it the way you did.
Copy a serial number from a ride. Click a battery badge on Home or on an activity to copy that sensor's serial number, ready to paste into Add Sensor.
Heart rate monitors and trainers stay out of bike matching. They're never used to decide which bike a ride was on, so they have no bike pairing and don't count as unpaired sensors.
Fixes
Serial numbers from Wahoo recordings are kept. Rides recorded in the Wahoo app, and some sensors on ELEMNT head units, store sensor serial numbers somewhere Componentry wasn't reading. We now read them for every ride file, from Wahoo, Garmin, Hammerhead or an upload. That means the sensors on those rides can be named and matched. It applies to new rides; older rides stay as they are.
