Privacy and Permissions

Connecting an assistant is your choice, and you can undo it at any time. This page explains exactly what the connection allows.

You Approve the Connection

An assistant can only reach your Componentry account after you sign in to Componentry and select Allow access. Componentry never sees your Claude password, and the assistant never sees your Componentry password.

What the Assistant Can See

Only what it needs to answer questions about your bikes:

• Your bikes and their components, including wear and expected life
• Predicted life left for components, and what is driving their wear
• Maintenance reminders and their status
• Services and maintenance checks, including parts replaced and notes you've written
• Your rides: name, date, distance, climbing, duration and which bike was used
• Your email address, so the assistant can confirm which account is connected
• Your unit preferences, so distances are shown the way you expect

What the Assistant Can Change

Only when you ask, and only after it has shown you what it is about to save and you've agreed:

• Add a bike
• Add components to a bike, with their standard reminders if you want them
• Edit a bike's details or make it your main bike
• Edit a component's name, manufacturer, fitted date or expected life
• Log a service, and mark it planned, booked or completed
• Replace, fit or retire a component as part of a service, and undo a retirement
• Add a note about a component to a service
• Tick off maintenance reminders, create a new one, or rename one

What the Assistant Cannot See or Do

• It cannot delete anything: bikes, components, services, notes or reminders.
• It cannot retire a bike, change a reminder's schedule, or change your settings.
• It cannot see payment details, invoices or your subscription's billing information.
• It cannot see your password or two-step verification settings.
• It cannot see documents, receipts or photos you've uploaded.
• It cannot see bike fit measurements or insurance details.
• It cannot see or use your Strava, Garmin, Wahoo or Hammerhead connections.
• It cannot see GPS routes or where you rode.

Where Your Data Goes

When you ask a question, the assistant requests the relevant records from Componentry and uses them to write its answer. Those records become part of your conversation with that assistant, and are then handled under Anthropic's privacy policy and your settings with them:

Componentry only sends data in response to a request made during your conversation. It does not send your data to Anthropic at any other time, and it does not receive the content of your conversations.

Componentry records that a lookup happened (which kind of lookup, when, and whether it succeeded) so we can keep the service reliable. We do not record what you asked or what was returned.

Disconnecting

You can disconnect from either side:

• In Componentry: AI assistants → Disconnect
• In the assistant: remove Componentry from its connectors settings

After you disconnect, the assistant can no longer sign in to your account. Access it already holds can take up to an hour to end. Anything already written into a conversation stays in that conversation; delete the chat with the provider if you want it removed.

Subscriptions

AI assistants are available on an active subscription or during the free trial. If your trial has ended, the assistant will let you know and point you to billing. Your connection stays in place, so everything works again once you subscribe.
