Completing Reminders from Service Logs
Tick off all of a bike's maintenance reminders from a maintenance check or service log, and keep a record of which service completed them.
Maintenance checks and service logs both include a Reminders section for the bike they belong to. When you service a bike, you rarely do just one thing: while the chain is off you also check the brake pads and top up the sealant. The Reminders section lets you tick off everything the session covered in one go, instead of hunting down each reminder afterwards.
Where the Reminders Section Appears
Open any maintenance check or service log that is linked to a bike and you will find a Reminders card above the component sections. It shows two lists:
- The bike's reminders - Every reminder for the bike, including reminders attached to its individual components, sorted most urgent first. Each row shows what the reminder is attached to, its status (Overdue, Due Soon, Upcoming, or Scheduled), and how close it is to due in days, distance, or rides. Reminders that are already done for this cycle are marked, and paused ones are labelled.
- Completed in this log - The reminders that were completed as part of this service, with the date they were ticked off.
Everything is offered, not just what is due, because a service often covers work early. You decide what the session actually included. Service logs without a bike attached have no reminders to show.
Completing Reminders as Part of a Service
- Open the maintenance check or service log.
- In the Reminders section, select the reminders your service covered. Use Select All if the session covered everything. Reminders that were not due yet can be selected too: completing one early simply restarts its interval from today.
- Choose Complete. Each selected reminder is completed, scheduled for its next due point, and moved into the Completed in this log list.
Completion works the same way it always has: time-based reminders schedule their next occurrence from today, distance-based reminders schedule from the bike or component's current distance, and ride-count reminders reset their count. Completing a reminder through a service is exactly as good for your schedule as completing it anywhere else. The difference is the record it leaves behind.
On a back-dated maintenance check, the service record keeps the check's date, while the reminder's next due point is still calculated from today. The history reflects when the work happened without skewing the upcoming schedule.
Starting a Service from a Reminder
This flow also works in the other direction. When you complete a reminder from the dashboard, the Reminders page, or the mobile app, Componentry offers to record the work as a Maintenance Check or Full Service Log. Choosing either creates the record with that reminder already completed and linked, and takes you to the log so you can tick off anything else the session covered. See Completing Reminders for the full prompt behaviour.
A Permanent Record
Reminders completed through a service stay on that service's record permanently. If you later edit or delete the reminder itself, the log still shows what was completed and when. Deleting a service log does not undo the reminders it completed; they keep their schedules.
Over time this builds a service history that can answer when the chain was last waxed and which service covered it, which a reminder list on its own cannot. That history also feeds service reports and makes a well-documented bike easier to sell.
Mobile
The same Reminders section appears on maintenance checks and full service logs in the mobile app. Full service logs, including the state workflow (New, Booked, Completed), crash flag, mechanic, and component notes, are now available on mobile. Component replacement within a service and emailed service reports remain web-only for now.
