Notification Types

Detailed information about each type of notification available in Componentry and when they are triggered.

Componentry offers six types of notifications, each designed to keep you informed about different aspects of your cycling data. This guide explains each notification type in detail, including when you'll receive them and why they matter.

Activity Processed

Receive alerts when a new activity has been received and processed by Componentry.

What triggers this notification:

  • A new ride is synced from your connected Strava, Wahoo, or Garmin account
  • An activity is manually uploaded via FIT file
  • Activity data has been processed and wear calculations updated

Why it matters: This notification confirms that your ride data has been successfully imported and your component wear tracking is up to date. It's particularly useful after completing a ride to verify that sync is working correctly.

Recommended channels:

  • Web - Enabled for quick confirmation
  • Email - Disabled (can be noisy for frequent riders)
  • Mobile - Enabled for immediate feedback after rides

Components Processed

Know when the components on your bike have been processed for wear calculations.

What triggers this notification:

  • Component wear has been recalculated after an activity
  • Batch processing of multiple components is complete
  • Wear thresholds have been updated based on new data

Why it matters: This notification confirms that your component wear data reflects your latest activities. It helps you stay aware of how quickly components are wearing and when replacements might be needed.

Recommended channels:

  • Web - Optional, depending on how closely you track wear
  • Email - Disabled
  • Mobile - Disabled

Bike Matched

Get notified when a bike is automatically matched to an activity.

What triggers this notification:

  • A bike has been automatically matched to a new activity
  • Matching is based on paired devices (power meters, heart rate monitors, sensors)
  • The system has high confidence in the match

Why it matters: Componentry uses your device pairings to automatically determine which bike you rode. This notification confirms the match, giving you the opportunity to correct it if needed. Accurate bike matching is essential for correct wear tracking.

Recommended channels:

  • Web - Enabled to verify matches
  • Email - Disabled
  • Mobile - Enabled for quick verification after rides

New Reminder

Stay on top of maintenance with reminders for bikes and components.

What triggers this notification:

  • A reminder is coming due based on time or distance thresholds
  • Scheduled maintenance date is approaching
  • Component replacement threshold is about to be reached

Why it matters: Reminders help you maintain your bikes proactively, preventing costly repairs and ensuring optimal performance. Missing a reminder could mean riding on worn components or skipping important maintenance.

Recommended channels:

  • Web - Enabled for dashboard visibility
  • Email - Enabled to ensure you don't miss important maintenance
  • Mobile - Enabled for time-sensitive alerts

App Token Refresh

Be alerted when your Garmin, Strava, or Wahoo connection needs to be reconnected.

What triggers this notification:

  • An integration token has expired or is about to expire
  • Re-authorization is required to continue syncing activities
  • Connection issues are detected with a provider

Why it matters: Integration tokens expire periodically for security reasons. Without a valid token, Componentry cannot sync your activities from that provider. This notification ensures you don't miss any rides due to an expired connection.

Recommended channels:

  • Web - Enabled
  • Email - Enabled (important to act on quickly)
  • Mobile - Enabled

Strava Matched

Get updates when your bike is matched to a Strava activity and has been synced back to Strava.

What triggers this notification:

  • A bike has been matched and the gear assignment synced to Strava
  • Strava gear records have been updated
  • Two-way sync between Componentry and Strava is complete

Why it matters: This notification confirms that your Strava activities reflect the correct bike, keeping your Strava gear statistics accurate. It's particularly useful if you use Strava's built-in gear tracking alongside Componentry.

Recommended channels:

  • Web - Enabled for confirmation
  • Email - Disabled
  • Mobile - Optional
